Pressure-washing a home is a bad idea! As a paint contractor  houses are, and have always been designed to protect from rain falling down from above. It’s counterintuitive to shoot highly pressurized water at a house from directions it is not designed to withstand. Pressure-washing forces water behind wood and siding, and because it is sprayed directly into open seams, soffit vents and under siding, it causes problems, such as mold and wood rot.

Pressure-washing usually does not include a cleaning solution, either. We hand-wash with a mild soap and bleach solution that cleans the house and removes mildew.

We remove and clean all door and window screens, wet down the home and use soft car wash brushes to gently wash all windows and painted areas. We use stiffer scrub brushes for rock and brick. We rinse the home; and then clean, squeegee and buff the windows dry before replacing the screens.
